Titan – The Movie

French Director Stephane Benini ha spent the best part of a year cataloguing his vision of what the ‘Ring means, and how to transfer that motor sport noise , feel and addiction that draw people to the Green Hell in their thousands every year. It also tries to capture the track itself in it’s rawness and what it does to man and machine. This movie covers new machines, vintage machines (check out the Gulf GT40 and the John Player F1 Car), and also two wheeled merchants at the ‘ring.

I’m looking forward to the full version, check out the sound off the Aston Martin DB9R

Weekend Round Up

/

It was a busy weekend for motorsport championships all round with a number of championships being decided. In a great weekend for Irish motorsport, two Irish pairings won major rally championships in Britain and Italy and a Meath driver is the favourite to take an American racing title. Keith Cronin from Bantry and his Limerick co-driver Greg Shinnors scored their third International win of the year, to clinch the British Rally Championship, the first Irish crew to take the title since the legendary Billy Coleman, 35 years ago.

The 23 year old West Cork driver, the 2007 winner of the Billy Coleman Award for Young Rally Driver of the Year, won three of the six rounds in his Cremins Coaches Mitsubishi Evo 9 and finished second in two more behind three times champion Mark Higgins.

Prodrift Series to the Wire

/

Over the past three seasons, Mondello Park has witnessed 3 consecutive title deciders. In 2006, Darren McNamara famously defeated team mate Damien Mulvey in the Final to claim his Irish Title by the narrowest of margins. 12 months later, Eric O’Sullivan claimed one of many 2007 season victories to cement his Prodrift Irl Championship (with one event to spare) and in 2008, James Deane did enough to be crowned Irelands youngest Prodrift Champ; all at Mondello Park.

In less than 1 week, another name will enter the Prodrift Hall of Fame, but this time as the winner of the 2009 Prodrift Super Series.
