Hello there.

Hello there, the name is Micheál, some of you might know me from other forums etc, or not,
I'm a VW man at heart, but i have a fondness for motorsport and rallying.
Based in north Meath, ALMC rally country. Currently studying in UCD at the moment, aka killing time on the internet..

Current money pit is a mk2 golf. It was formally a 1.3, i got sick of then managed to break that engine, so i did the only humane thing i could- its now powered by a 2.0 16v from the mk3 gti, with 280mm brakes, gti interior and shiny wheels.

Might stuck up a project thread at some stage.

So, thats about it for now.

Mick.

A set of wide, and far too expensive wheels.. and general maintanance..

Glad to hear it, you and your dad still rallying the abarth i presume? (based on your sig..)
Surely he hasn't expanded the collection further?

I've had my own small number of cars too, good and bad, in the last few years.. A brief spell with peugeot..

Cheers lads.

i've changed the door cards now, the interior is full gti spec.

I still didn't fit the disc rear beam yet, but that means i have a handbrake, as the disc handbrake is ****e..

Also adds to the sleeper look.. On the way home from Gti International last summer, i had a lad tell me about watching me pull up to the line at the drag strip, against a standard G60. Bearing in mind my car has rear drums and non gti lights, he expected me not to win.. "Then ya just f*cking took off"

Check out clubgti regarding rear beams. Your car may have a wider std. beam due to drums. I have some spare gti stubs if you want them. Good condition. I am sure you know to fit Mk3 rear calipers. Much more reliable than Mk2 calipers. And, that handbrake cables differ. I have an 87 EV Basic. No sunroof, no radio or speakers, no side repeaters, fixed height drivers seat, factory lowered suspension. Just as it came from the factory. How did you get hold of a non-sunroof black roof liner?

I've a rear beam here in the shed ready to fit, polybushed, with mk3 calipers, handbrake cables, the works..

Just havn't got round to it yet..

That sounds like a fairly spartan yoke alright..

Its still got the beige/greyish roof liner unfortunatly.. its rare i notice it, i usually dont look at the roof too often. Gonna get a spare one and just spray it black at some stage, but i'm not too worried about it for now..

You'll get a black roof liner in Germany, France or Sweden. Lots of non-sunroof cars over there.
I believe mine may be a unique RHD non-sunroof. It's not a conversion! Took me 20 years to find it, after owning a few PBs. I even have a 90 20v Q without a sunroof. Lots of unrecognised option codes on the boot sticker. I am geting the details from VW Museum in a few weeks, costs €35.
